It Feels Good to Be Home: Most Loved 5-Star Victor Radley Returns with Pride and Purpose to Join St George Illawarra Dragons

In a move that’s set to ignite passion among NRL fans, especially those in the heart of the Illawarra, Victor Radley has officially signed with the St George Illawarra Dragons. The Sydney-born forward, known for his fierce tackles, tireless work ethic, and deep love for the game, says he’s “finally home” — and Dragons fans couldn’t be happier.

After spending the bulk of his NRL career with the Sydney Roosters, where he won three premierships and earned a reputation as one of the most passionate and tough competitors in the game, Radley’s return to the region he grew up in has struck a powerful emotional chord.

### “It Feels Good to Be Home”

Radley, affectionately known as “The Inflictor” by fans, made the emotional announcement during a press conference at WIN Stadium on Monday morning.

“I’ve always had love for the Illawarra,” Radley said. “I grew up not far from here, spent so many days watching the Red V run out, and now I get to wear that jersey. It feels good to be home.”

While he has represented both England and New South Wales on the representative stage, Radley has never forgotten his roots. This move is more than a career decision — it’s personal.

### A Major Coup for the Dragons

The signing of Victor Radley is seen as a major recruitment win for the Dragons, who have been on a mission to rebuild the club’s identity under head coach Shane Flanagan.

“Victor brings not just experience and toughness, but also a winning culture,” Flanagan said. “He knows what it takes to succeed at the top level. His presence will be massive in our locker room, especially for our younger players.”

Radley’s versatility — capable of playing both lock and second row — gives the Dragons greater depth and flexibility in their forward pack. His leadership qualities, honed over years of playing in high-pressure situations, will also be invaluable to a side looking to return to finals football.

### A Fan Favourite with a New Mission

Radley’s departure from the Roosters was met with mixed emotions by fans of his former club, many of whom consider him a club legend. But for the Illawarra faithful, it’s a dream come true.

“Victor Radley is the kind of player you build a team around,” said longtime Dragons supporter Mick Donnelly. “He bleeds for the jersey. You can’t coach that.”

Radley will wear the No. 13 jersey in the 2026 season, taking over a position that has lacked consistent impact in recent years. He’s expected to become an on-field general for the Dragons, bringing with him the intensity and discipline that made him one of the Roosters’ most reliable performers.

### Eyes on the Future

At just 27, Radley still has plenty of top-level football left in him, and he’s made it clear that he wants to be part of a long-term project in Wollongong.

“I didn’t come here for one season and out,” he said. “I’m here to help build something — for the team, for the fans, and for the community.”

His arrival also coincides with a broader shift in club culture at the Dragons, as they look to restore pride to the famous Red V. With a strong junior base and the addition of experienced stars like Radley, the club hopes to inspire a new era of success.

As pre-season approaches, anticipation is building. Jerseys are flying off shelves, memberships are spiking, and the vibe around Kogarah and Wollongong is electric.

One thing is clear: Victor Radley’s homecoming isn’t just about football. It’s about heart, heritage, and a hunger to make the Illawarra proud.
