The dates and times for the 2024 NFL regular season remain on the horizon. But in Foxborough, preliminary plans have been made for August.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni have discussed holding a single joint practice on the Gillette Stadium backfields.

It would mark the lone joint session of the preseason for the Patriots. It would arrive during the second week of the schedule, sources told Reiss, with a road game expected for the summer finale.

“Word is that Mayo prefers just a single practice, in part to limit fighting that can sometimes become prevalent on a second day,” Reiss noted.

The Patriots last held joint workouts with the Eagles at the NovaCare Complex during training camp in 2021. Under previous head coaches Bill Belichick and Chip Kelly, the sides had also crossed paths in 2014 and 2013, both in Foxborough and Philadelphia.

The NFL’s 17-game slate for the regular season is set to be released at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Outside of the AFC East, New England’s upcoming opponents will include the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears.
