In a friendly match between Nigeria and Ghana in March, Nigeria won 2-1 thanks to a goal from the penalty spot by Cyriel Dessers.

According to Soccernet.ng, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, a striker for both Rangers and the Super Eagles, has supported his team to win the Scottish Professional Football League all the way.

The 29-year-old forward arrived at the Glasgow-based team from Italian Serie A team Cremonese, and since then, he has scored seventeen goals for the 55-time Scottish champions.

In Sunday’s Old Firm derby, he led the line for The Gers as they played to a 3-3 draw with the Celtic. A foul in the build-up saw Dessers’ goal disallowed, but Rabbie Matondo’s late, Kevin De Bruyne-esque goal sealed a point for Philippe Clement’s team.

Celtic and Rangers are tied for the most points with two games remaining in the season, but have different goal differentials. Dessers has pushed his group to be brave and outperform their opponents.

“On Sunday, we proved to be able to score three goals against a strong squad. We clearly lost the first two games as well, but I don’t think we were really deserving of the loss. We proved we could harm them, and if we could just get a little luckier—like we did with their opening goal on Sunday—and seize the opportunity, we could win comfortably. This midweek, Rangers are scheduled to meet Dundee, and Dessers is eager to win three points to take the lead in the league.
