Mater Dei linebacker Abduall Sanders, of Santa Ana, California, has scheduled a couple upcoming unofficial visits and is almost ready to schedule his first formal trip.

Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to witness Sanders in action at the Shock Doctor Legends 7v7 competition, and he never fails to wow.

After playing as an edge rusher for the first two seasons, he switched to inside linebacker last season, and it was a perfect match for him.

He was an explosive pass rusher coming off the edge but frame wise, inside linebacker is probably his best spot and where Sanders wants to play in college as well.

“That’s my spot for sure,” Sanders said. “I love it there and it’s where all the colleges are recruiting me as well

I think it’s my natural position and I love being right there in the middle of the field, able to make plays sideline to sideline.”

Sanders’ recruitment has blown up this off-season and he’s now a national recruit with scholarship offers from all over the country.

He has a pair of big unofficial trips set up for later this month.

“I’m going to Alabama March 18 and Oho State March 27,” Sanders said. “I was just at Bama and loved it there.

“It’s a great school and I’m real comfortable with the staff because I was being recruited by a lot of them when they were at Washington. I like coach DeBoer a lot and know Courtney Morgan really well too.”

This will be Sanders’s first trip to Ohio State.

Sanders remarked, “I’m excited because I’ve never been.” “I’m getting along well with the LB coach, James Laurinaitis, and he told me he likes the way I play.

“They consider myself a middle linebacker, and I believe I’m a great fit for their defense. I’m eager to get to know the other employees and find out how well I fit in.

Sanders has several other schools he said he’s hoping to visit later this off-season.

“I’m talking with Tennessee about taking an official visit on June 13,” Sanders said. “I’m also talking a lot with Notre Dame and Auburn and both schools are showing a lot of love right now.

“I haven’t set up any official visits yet but right now, the schools I would like to visit would be Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Notre Dame. I’m still open but those are the schools that stand out right now.”

UCLA could be a local option. There has been a lot of buzz that the new Bruin LB coach could be former UCLA All-American ‘backer Robert Thomas, who was Sanders’ LB coach at Mater Dei last season.
