After being denied exemption, the defending champion of Argentina opened up “shocked.”

Fischer used X to express how sad he was to be missing the tournament in Buenos Aires at the Olivos Golf Club the following week.

In 2022, the golfer won the top prize of $31,500 at the competition. The event had to be rescheduled, therefore it was not held in 2023.

Even so, Fischer felt he should have received an invitation this year, but the golfer said the tournament organizers had “other plans” for the exemptions.

His loss of playing rights on the Korn Ferry Tour the previous season is the main reason he is not in the field based on rating.

“I am incredibly disappointed to say that I will not be able to defend my title at the Argentina Open on the Korn Ferry Tour next week,” he wrote in a tweet.

“They have different ideas for the exemptions, but I have made my point. Nevertheless, 2024 will still rank as my finest year ever.
