Breaking: Tennessee agrees blockbuster deal with Lions for young QB
In the wake of the Tennessee Titans selecting quarterback Cam Ward as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, speculation has arisen regarding the future of incumbent quarterback Will Levis. CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin suggests that the Detroit Lions could be a potential landing spot for Levis, citing both financial and roster-fit incentives that might prompt Tennessee to consider trading the young quarterback.
Levis, drafted in the second round in 2023, had a challenging 2024 season with the Titans, throwing for 2,091 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, leading the team to just two wins before being benched. Following the Titans’ decision to draft Ward, Levis candidly expressed his discontent, stating that his current situation “sucks” but remains focused on self-improvement and supporting his teammates.
The Titans have publicly stated that they have not discussed trading Levis with any team. Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker emphasized, “We have not contacted anybody, and nobody has contacted us, about Will Levis.”
Despite this, the Detroit Lions could be a logical destination for Levis. The Lions have been proactive in enhancing their roster, and acquiring a young quarterback like Levis could provide valuable depth behind starter Jared Goff. Levis’ potential and experience as a starter could make him an asset for the Lions as they continue to build a competitive team.
As the offseason progresses, it remains to be seen whether the Titans will entertain trade offers for Levis. For now, Levis continues to prepare for the upcoming season, focusing on his development and readiness to contribute, whether in Tennessee or elsewhere.
