The Parramatta Eels are reportedly set to sign former Warriors and Dragons playmaker Ronald Volkman to boost their halves depth for 2025.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported Volkman is in talks with the Eels and coach Jason Ryles to provide depth for starting halves Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown.
Volkman signed with the Dragons at the end of 2023 on a one-year deal after gaining a release from the final two years of his Warriors contract
However, due to a pre-existing should injury from his time at the Warriors, Volkman’s Dragons contract was terminated without playing a game.
The Dragons eventually reached a settlement with Volkman and were sanctioned by the NRL due to the situation, which left the young halfback stranded and without a club.
Given the potential for Moses to be part of the NSW Origin series again, Volkman’s signing would make sense as Ryles aims to build a strong wider squad.
The 22-year-old began his career at the Roosters, but switched to the Warriors in 2021 and later inked a three-year deal as he was seen as their long-term No.7 option.
Volkman played five games for the Warriors across two seasons, but was stuck behind Shaun Johnson, who has now retired, in the pecking order.
