Seahawks are interested in adding former Browns signal-caller to their quarterback room.

The Seahawks are reportedly interested in former Browns QB P.J. Walker. According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, the Seahawks plan to fly Walker in for a physical on Sunday. If all goes well, they plan to sign him.

This is an update on previous reporting from NFL insider Ian Rapaport, who reported that the Seahawks were signing Walker.

Walker would join a Seattle QB room that is led by veteran Geno Smith and also features backup Sam Howell.

Walker has had a busy football career. He played his first handful of seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts released Walker in 2019, which paved the way for him to join the XFL. Walker signed with the Houston Roughnecks and went on to lead the league in passing yards and touchdowns. This earned him another shot at the NFL. Walker signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and spent three years with the team, starting a few games but mostly as a backup.

P.J. Walker started two games for the Cleveland Browns in 2023. The Browns went 1-1 under Walker, but he didn’t show much to get excited about. He only completed 48.6% of his passes and had a passer rating of 52.2. Not good.

Walker could end up being Seattle’s QB3 in 2024, so long as he earns it in training camp.

Seattle fans have high expectations for Jaxon Smith-Njigba in 2024.

The former first-round pick was not a prominently featured part of the Seahawks’ offense in 2023. That might be changing in 2024.

Head coach Mike Macdonald spoke with the media last week about JSN. Macdonald praised his work ethic and said he is doing well at practice.

“JSN’s a great player and we’re expecting big things out of him,” Macdonald said. “His practice habits are awesome and his movement ability is pretty elite.”
