The Miami Dolphins have had an offseason full of roster changes, losing numerous key players on both sides of the ball, including Christian Wilkins, Robert Hunt, Andrew Van Ginkel, Brandon Jones, Raekwon Davis, Jerome Baker, Cedrick Wilson, and others.
One position the Dolphins have been rumored to be looking to upgrade this offseason is at wide receiver alongside stars Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but nothing has come to fruition yet.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, veterans Odell Beckham Jr. and Tyler Boyd remain Miami’s top two options for a No. 3 receiver, but the stumbling block is money, as neither player is delighted with the prospect of accepting a significant salary reduction from what they earned last season.
Beckham made $15 million last season and Boyd made $10.3 million, and each one is seeking to get close to those respective numbers in their next deal as well.
Miami doesn’t have cap space to work with even after losing so much talent in free agency, as Spotrac currently has them with just under $4 million remaining.
Even if Beckham and Boyd do not earn the numbers they did last season, they are sure to find at least half of that amount, which is already more than Miami has available in salary space unless the organization finds a way to be creative.
As of now, Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft are the receivers right behind Hill and Waddle on the depth chart, which doesn’t inspire much confidence for Dolphins fans.
