Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has faced unwavering criticism from the fans despite the team winning four NBA titles in the last nine years. The criticism has covered a wide range of topics, including Kerr’s rotational decisions, how he handled several internal team conflicts, and his reluctance to run more high screen pick and rolls.

This passage from an article titled “Even the media is finally turning on Warriors head coach Steve Kerr” that appeared in the SF Gate in January perfectly captures the extent to which supporters and analysts have openly questioned Coach Kerr’s leadership of this club.

However, it’s possible that he still has a secret weapon that might help the Warriors go to the postseason and cause some harm. Did you catch LeBron James and J.J. Redick discussing what makes Golden State’s fundamental “Post Split” offense nearly hard to stop when the appropriate players are on the court in their “Mind The Game” podcast?

Redick was forced to chase through action most notably as an antagonist to the Warriors as a Los Angeles Clipper. Meanwhile James has been going to war with the Splash Bros-era Dubs for a decade, with many NBA titles hanging in the balance of those contests.

It’s good to hear them analyze how to stop it while also exchanging terrifying tales of how the Warriors haunted their teams; it serves as a good reminder that Coach Kerr’s plan still has lot of potential. The Warriors have much too much potential to be dismissed just yet.
