Breaking News: The Miami Dolphins extended a contract offer to Odell Beckham Jr But did Not sign Him as a Result OF…

The Dolphins visited with the unemployed pass catcher, and things went so well that an offer was made. Why then did OBJ not sign a contract?

The wide receiver who won the Super Bowl was scheduled to visit the Miami Dolphins, as we previously reported. In fact, it was enough to draw attention that a player of that caliber would be joining what is maybe the NFL’s most explosive offense. It appears that nothing came of it in the end. Why?

Dolphins made an offer to OBJ

Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly turned down a contract offer from the Miami Dolphins following his visit last week, despite the team’s best efforts to get him to sign. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said during the NFL’s league meetings in Orlando that the team had made an offer to OBJ, but nothing was set in stone. This means that Beckham’s potential to join the team is still open.

“He was a pleasure to work with,” McDaniel added. We did extend an offer to him, but business takes time—especially when it comes to someone like Odell, who has an incredible career ahead of him and still has alternatives. Thus, I anticipate that those discussions will continue. We’ll follow their progress.

Naturally, Beckham just signed a $15 million, one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns while he was a Raven. To be honest, it’s unclear if Beckham can return to the level of play that allowed him to surpass 50 receptions and 1000 yards in 2019. Despite this, he remains one of the most talked about wide receivers in the game, a perception reinforced by his two receptions and one touchdown in the Los Angeles Rams’ 2021 Super Bowl victory.

So how does a talent like this fit into a squad that already has players like Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill? In the worst situation, he offers insightful experience that will only help the two young but gifted receivers. In the best instance, the old OBJ is visible. When you consider it, the Dolphins got a really good deal.
