Breaking News: Forget Dallas Cowboys Rumors; Johnny Manziel to Sign with Arena League as a Result of…

We have repeatedly and comprehensively refuted the claim that former Texas A&M Heisman Trophy quarterback Johnny Manziel would be selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the draft.

However, “Johnny Football” might be returning to the game at the still-viable age of 31 if he so chooses.

The unsuccessful NFL quarterback has shown interest in being signed by the Arena Football League.

According to TMZ, commissioner Lee Hutton “reached out to Johnny Manziel.” “Well, I’m from Texas, Johnny. We will take you inside if you’re ready to return because you performed really well. We’ll make room for you.

Naturally, the Arena League would be doing this to garner publicity and increase ticket sales.

There is nothing wrong with that. What would motivate Johnny to do it? Since the Cleveland Browns selected him in the first round of the draft, he has been quite transparent about his alcohol addiction and other behavioral problems that caused him to be a bust. Would he wish to show that he still has it and that he can handle his demons?

Despite the owner of the team’s best efforts to pretend otherwise, this was never going to be a Cowboys tale. Still, it’s one hell of a Texas tale. This story could never be a “America’s Team” story. But a redemptive story unique to America? We would cheer for that.
