Breaking: 6-foot-5, 185-pound standout from Moravian Prep in Hudson, North Carolina, choose UNC Over Kansas and Duke: Tar Heels Land Rising In-State Star
In a significant recruiting victory for the University of North Carolina, four-star shooting guard Kohl Rosario has announced his commitment to the Tar Heels, choosing UNC over fellow basketball powerhouses Kansas and Duke. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound standout from Moravian Prep in Hudson, North Carolina, is ranked No. 96 overall, No. 14 among shooting guards, and No. 3 in the state according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings for the class of 2026.
Rosario’s recruitment saw a meteoric rise in recent weeks, highlighted by a standout performance at the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament, where he scored 30 points on perfect shooting, including six three-pointers. This performance caught the attention of top programs, leading to scholarship offers from Kansas, Duke, and UNC within a 72-hour span.
Despite scheduling official visits to Oregon, Kansas, Texas A\&M, Duke, and Baylor, Rosario ultimately chose to stay close to home, citing UNC’s coaching staff and program fit as key factors in his decision. “Coach Davis and the staff have been in contact with me for the last week. Right after I got the Duke offer, the head coach called me and said he liked my game. He had been watching me during the live period,” Rosario said.
Rosario’s commitment is a significant addition to UNC’s 2026 recruiting class, bringing in a player known for his athleticism, shooting prowess, and defensive capabilities. His decision to join the Tar Heels not only strengthens their roster but also sends a message about the program’s ability to attract top in-state talent.
As Rosario prepares for his senior year at Moravian Prep, UNC fans eagerly anticipate his arrival in Chapel Hill, where he is expected to make an immediate impact on the court.
