Bevo on Swans: “It should be a fierce battle.”

Luke Beveridge, the coach of the Western Bulldogs, expressed confidence in his team ahead of their upcoming match against Sydney this Sunday. He highlighted that the team should approach the game with optimism based on their performances over the last two weeks.

Luke Beveridge, the Western Bulldogs coach, emphasized that the team should approach their upcoming match against Sydney with confidence. He noted that their recent performances over the past two weeks have been positive, which should bolster their morale going into Sunday’s clash.

For the first time since Rounds 9 and 10, the Bulldogs have achieved consecutive victories by defeating Carlton and Geelong in recent weeks.

Beveridge noted that despite their earlier loss to the Swans this season, both teams have undergone significant changes since then.

Beveridge informed the media on Wednesday, “They’ve obviously run into some injuries in recent times – I think we’d played 35 or 36 players three or four weeks ago, and they’d only played 26.”

“Now they’ve got their challenges as far as availability goes with their playing stocks, and decisions around where various players play. That presents us with the challenge of the uncertainty of what they’ll look like – with an injury or two to what they’ve put out on the park in recent times,” Beveridge remarked regarding the Swans’ current situation.

“It’ll be a bit different to what we came up against last time. We were travelling okay (in that game) – we had the two concussions and lost Naughton to a knee in that game so while you never make excuses, we always wonder how it might have turned out if that hadn’t happened. Hopefully we have a bit of luck – everyone’s looking for that. It is important in your journey to have luck with your injury toll, but it should be a fierce battle.”

The potential return of Liam Jones this weekend could bolster the Bulldogs, with the veteran defender listed as a test before tomorrow’s squad selection. Beveridge commented, “He does everything he can when he’s not able to play. He’s been pretty critical to what we’ve been trying to do with his role, so I imagine if he presents as being able to be picked, then he’ll come in.”

Today, the Club officially re-opened Mission Whitten Oval following over two years of construction. Beveridge described the occasion as a special moment for the team and the club as a whole.
