Exclusive report:Carlos Alcaraz reveals why Jannik Sinner deserves to be ATP No.1…But can never be better than…

Carlos Alcaraz’s tribute to his youthful competitor Jannik Sinner is the umpteenth evidence of the mutual respect between these two brilliant modern tennis talents.

With each passing day, the diatribe on the best tennis player of the moment is fueled more and more. On one side the fans, who debate animatedly on who is the strongest, on the other two great and very humble champions, opponents only on the court and with great respect for each other.

During a conversation with the Murcian daily ORM Deportes’ X account, Alcaraz revealed his opinion on who the best tennis player of the year is. The Wimbledon champion praised his competitor in this manner, bestowing a certificate of high regard on his Italian friend. “Sinner is the most consistent player.” He has won a Grand Slam and, with the exception of this competition, has advanced to the semifinals in all of his other tournaments. He deserves to remain ATP No. 1. I’ve won huge tournaments; let’s hope he keeps it up, and we’ll see who’s higher by the end of the year,” he remarked.

After the overwhelming triumph at Wimbledon in the final against Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz has dramatically increased his odds. The 21-year-old Spaniard, who won his fourth career Slam title on the grass of the All England Club, confirming himself as champion after last year’s English success, is going through a magical moment.

Carlitos has achieved the rare achievement of winning both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year, joining a small group of champions who have done so. Despite these incredible victories, the Murcian tennis player remains third in the ATP rankings, trailing only Novak Djokovic and number one Sinner. The Italian is having his finest year on the circuit with four titles won, including the Australian Open at the beginning of the year, the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami, and the ATP 500 in Rotterdam and Halle.
