Celtic and Manchester United sources have moved to quell speculation that the Scottish Champions had agreed to sign Altay Bayindir. The 26-year old has played second fiddle to Andre Onana for United since arriving from Fenerbahce.
Although, a report from Turkey suggested that he had ‘agreed’ a deal with Celtic. This resulted in sources (via The Sun) at both Old Trafford and Paradise both clarifying that Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t be signing Bayindir.
Onana has been Erik Ten Hag’s No.1 but the Dutchman’s future is up in the air, despite winning the FA Cup. The club will look to rebuild this summer after a dismal season but they have bigger challenges in the recruitment department.
The Irishman is looking to find a goalkeeper that is comfortable with the ball at his feet but can make the crucial stops to keep the ball out the net.
Celtic are looking to fill the void left by Joe Hart, who decided to retire earlier this year and departed after last weekend’s Cup Final win over Rangers. The Scottish Champions need to find a player that can fill the goal and provide the level of quality on and off the pitch that Hart brought. Alex McCarthy at Southampton has been linked with a move but Russell Martin wants the 34-year old to be signed up to a new deal.
