The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Jaylen Warren, a running back, looks overjoyed that Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are now his team’s quarterbacks. However, in a recent interview, Warren may have revealed additional information regarding former Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett while also praising the team’s two current signal callers.

On April 27, on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, Cameron Heyward’s live program, Warren fielded a question regarding Wilson and Fields’ experiences at the team facilities. Warren responded by implying that the two quarterbacks were significantly better team leaders than the ones the squad had the previous season.

Warren stated on his Baku X (formerly Twitter) account, “Oh, it’s a night and day difference from last year.” “The leadership makes a powerful statement.”

The Steelers’ starting quarterbacks in 2023 were three different players. Warren is apparently drawing a comparison between Wilson and Fields and Pickett.

Towards the end of his time with the Steelers, Pickett’s leadership came under scrutiny. According to Pittsburgh sports commentator Mark Madden, Pickett “100% refused to be the backup” for the Steelers when they played the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17.

Then, on March 10, the day after the Steelers signed Wilson, Pickett called off a team practice, according to a story by Gerry Dulac of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pittsburgh traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of that week.

Steelers supporters respond to Jaylen Warren’s veiled jab at Kenny Pickett

Warren’s possible veiled jab against Pickett hasn’t exactly gone viral. However, reporters covering the affair saw Warren’s remark as at the very least a jab at his old teammate.

Chris Ward of Steelers Now referred to Warren’s remark on Pickett as “a truth bomb.” The running back’s response was described as a “telling comment” by Hunter Hodies of The Spun.

In response to Baku’s tweet about Warren’s remark, Steelers supporters on X were harsher on Pickett.

Rick M. commented, “It’s becoming more and more obvious how bad of a teammate Pickett was.”

“Warren speaks nothing but the truth,” according to WarrensBurgh.

During his first press conference after joining the Eagles, Pickett made a small attempt to alter the story of his departure from Pittsburgh. However, it didn’t seem to have much of an effect on typical Steelers fans.

In reaction to how the organization informed him of their intention to sign Wilson in the offseason, Pickett stated, “I think the communication is what it is.” Behind closed doors, that is. I feel good with the way I handled it.

However, Wilson’s reputation as a me-first player hasn’t been raised in his first few months with the Steelers.

tense conclusion Wilson received a lot of praise from Pat Freiermuth for setting up a session in San Diego with him and a few other pass catchers. Wilson shared a photo of himself and 2023 seventh-round selection Spencer Anderson, Wilson’s backup offensive guard, during a Pittsburgh Penguins game on April 14.

Warren’s remark further strengthens the argument that Wilson is exhibiting excellent leadership during the summer.

Wilson seems to be making the most of his new beginning in Pittsburgh. Even though Pickett committed mistakes when playing for the Steelers, if given the chance in Philadelphia, he might eventually make the same mistakes.
