The Steelers have a glaring hole at center
There’s not a good center on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster. Nate Herbig would be the player with his hand on the ball if the season began today. In his interview with WPXI, Omar Khan made it quite evident that the Steelers are aware of this urgent need.
Khan stated, “There’s a standard here.” “I became pampered. During my stay here, I was surrounded by Jeff Hartings and Maurkice Pouncey, as well as Dermontti Dawson, of course. This place had a lot of excellent centers. We owe it to ourselves to search everywhere in an effort to discover the next great center for the Pittsburgh Steelers because the bar is high.
Since Pouncey’s retirement following the 2020 season, the Steelers have struggled at the position. After attempting to switch to fullback during training camp last year, Kendrick Green’s experiment lasted just one season before he was dealt to the Houston Texans and was out of commission for the entirety of 2022. For the previous two seasons, Mason Cole was Pittsburgh’s answer, but he was possibly the worst starting center in football.
