Woman saved from flooding LA River following a spring thunderstorm that dumped a lot of rain

Los Angeles’ Studio City (KABC) — Over the weekend, rain, thunderstorms, and even hail were seen in Southern California. The rainy weather provided the setting for an incredible water rescue.

A 35-year-old lady was swept away in the Los Angeles River’s swift-moving waters until firefighters came to her aid. The rescue in Studio City took place on camera at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

She was first given a flotation device by the crews, but she traveled downstream and was overturned by the river. Then she grabbed onto a ladder that firefighters had dropped.

The personnel had initially given her a flotation device, but she went downstream and the water flipped her over. Then she clung to a ladder that had fallen from the sky by firefighters.

The rescue was only one of several incidents that transpired on Sunday in the area. In several places, there were unexpected hailstorms and heavy downpours that took many by surprise.

Some remarked it was the most unlike any storm they had ever witnessed.

“I’ve been living in Arcadia my whole life, I’ve never seen anything like it,” Nick Nicoli said.
