In a recent episode of his podcast Mind the Game, LeBron James claimed that the Golden State Warriors’ superior IQ over the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals was the team’s winning factor. Though the 34-year-old offers a few more explanations for why the Warriors prevailed, somewhat concurs with his close pal.

During The Draymond Green Show, Green stated, “That is very true to a certain extent.” “I firmly believe that at the time, our IQs were greatAlthough we did have a higher IQ, I believe that there is more to it than that—IQ in these circumstances and in the present.”

Sometimes during the playoffs—here, we’re talking about the NBA Finals—things can seem a little brighter than they actually are,” Green went on. “And then, they had never been there and were much younger. had never been there, but had attended the Eastern Conference Finals. We had a greater basketball IQ, I believe. I believe that our coaching staff had a superior basketball IQ at that time as well. The changes we made during that series were crucial.

According to Green, a significant factor was the team’s superior IQ and the coaching staff’s prior big-stage experience. Naturally, before that season, the Warriors had advanced to the NBA Finals in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

On the other hand, it was the Celtics’ first trip under Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They led in the fourth quarter of Game 4 and went up 2-1 in the series, but they lost in the last moments. In order to win the series in six games, the Warriors would go on to win the following two games as well.
