North Port, Florida: In the Toronto Blue Jays’ 10-9 spring training loss to the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, Arjun Nimmala hit his first home run with the team.

18-year-old shortstop Nimmala was chosen by Toronto in the first round of the ’23 draft.

After walking in his first at-bat, Nimmala went deep in a three-run ninth inning to help Toronto (11-13) level the game at nine runs. However, in Atlanta’s half of the ninth, Leury Garcia’s single drove home E.J. Exposito with the game-winning run (10-13).

Rafael Lantigua, Daniel Vogelbach, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also drove in runs for Toronto. Wes Parsons, a right-hander for the Jays (0-1) took the loss.

On Thursday, Toronto plays the Pittsburgh Pirates.
