The Chiefs have not yet decided on a deal for Chris Jones. However, they’re almost ready to finalize their arrangements with L’Jarius Sneed. According to reports that surfaced on Tuesday, the organization intended to “tag and trade” Sneed in the event that a long-term agreement could not be reached in time for the franchise tag deadline next week.
L’Jarius Sneed, a cornerback with the Chiefs, has been given authority to pursue a trade, according to an NFL Network Insider report on Wednesday. According to Rapoport, the Chiefs may decide to move the fourth-year defensive back after using their franchise tag on Sneed before the deadline on Tuesday of next week.
Kansas City will have until mid-July to either lock Sneed into a longer term or, most likely, keep its promise and move him if the team tags him by the deadline of March 5. For the 2024 season, cornerbacks will have a one-year franchise tag for $19.8 million.
