Barring a miracle associated with an AFC rival after a recent cut, Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro is headed toward free agency.

An All-Pro player for the Kansas City Chiefs was mentioned as a potential Pittsburgh Steelers substitute after Pressley Harvin was just cut by the team. Due of their 2024 salary limit position, the Chiefs have had to make some roster decisions in the two weeks since the Super Bowl concluded.

The Kansas City Chiefs must exercise caution when making purchases.

If the Chiefs and the team cannot come to an agreement by March 5th, L’Jarius Sneed, a cornerback, will be placed on the franchise tag. The Chiefs have to consider both Sneed’s decision and Chris Jones’ long-term deal as a defensive lineman.

The Chiefs made a choice last week that will prevent one important player from winning a three-peat. Former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza was signed by the team. With Araiza’s signing, Tommy Townsend’s return to the Chiefs in 2024 is no longer anticipated.

Tommy Townsend was linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Townsend is being linked by Curt Popejoy of the Steelers Wire to take Harvin’s spot in the upcoming season:

We’ve discussed possible draft picks and free agent alternatives, but in particular, if Townsend can return to his previous level of success, he might be just what the franchise needs.

Arazia’s signing was motivated more by money than anything else. Although it wasn’t a great season, Townsend had a down year. Practically speaking, the only question is if the Steelers are willing to give Townsend, one of the finest punters in the league, the kind of contract he will expect. In 2024, six gamblers are expected to earn at least $3 million, and Townsend undoubtedly hopes to reach seven.
