Players can win berths in this week’s event at PGA National (Champion) at The Palm Beaches by competing in a Monday qualifying for The Cognizant Classic. Four qualifying slots are available for the 18-hole qualification, which will be held at the Palmer course of the Tesoro Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
After play is finished, a hole-by-hole playoff will be used to break any ties for the remaining qualifying slots.
Austin Lemieux, the son of Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux, was one of the notables to advance from the four pre-qualifying locations that were competed last week. There will be an 84-player field for four seats in the qualification on Monday, with successful pre-qualifiers joining players exempt directly. This is one of the most competitive professional golf tournaments, with South Florida serving as a breeding ground for future Tour players.
Notables in Monday’s qualifying field include:
- Past TOUR winners Adam Long, Brice Garnett, Ryan Armour, Robert Streb, Jim Herman, Cody Gribble, Kevin Tway, Richy Werenski, D.J. Trahan and Robert Garrigus
- Morgan Hoffmann, who is making a comeback to pro golf amid his battle with muscular dystrophy
- Fran Quinn, 58, who made headlines when he qualified for the 2022 U.S. Open in his native Massachusetts
- Former Ryder Cupper Jeff Overton, amid a comeback from a life-threatening infection suffered during surgery for a herniated disk on his back
This file will be updated at the conclusion of play with more information on the qualifiers.
